RICHMOND COIN CLUB MINUTES

828th Meeting, August 3rd, 2010

6:30 PM, Roma's Italian Restaurant

 

President: Harvey Hinson, Vice President: Connie Robertson

Treasurer: Brenda Hinson, Secretary/Webmaster: Jess Kilgore

Directors of Education: Jess Kilgore/Darrell Tyler, Director of Membership: Henry Coalter

Club Historian: Jim Ruehrmund, Auctioneers: Chad Young/Ron Reynolds/Larry Rohr

 

60 members and guests were present.  One new member was voted into the club. There are 244 active members, including 50 dealer members.  There are 38 listed as inactive or deceased.   

 

·                     The treasury report was read by Brenda and the minutes by Jess.

·                     Harvey announced that the Classical Numismatics Society of Central Virginia had been founded by Jess Kilgore with Parry Bragg, Connie Robertson, Doug Smith, Jim Reuhrmund and Dave Armstrong to hold meetings to focus on ancient and medieval coins.  They would be a focus group within  the Richmond Coin Club and have a page on the RCC website and advertise at the RCC coin show tables. 

·                     George spoke concerning VNA officer nominations and the upcoming election at the VNA convention in September. 

·                     One new member, Michael Atkins was voted into the club.

·                     Member Parry Bragg spoke on the subject of ancient coins that were overstruck or counterstruck.

·                     A raffle was held with many valuable and interesting items given away, followed by a 10-item per lot auction where very few items went unsold.
